Description HAMBERGITE CRYSTAL This is the translucent white hambergite crystal. Dimensions: 2.6 x 0.4 x 0.3″ (6.5 x 1 x 0.8cm). Weight – 39.5ct (7.9 grams). Origin: Russia, Transbaikalia. Some information about hambergite: Hambergite is a beryllium borate mineral named after Swedish explorer and mineralogist Axel Hamberg (1863–1933). The mineral occurs as white or colorless orthorhombic crystals. Hambergite occurs in beryllium bearing granite pegmatites as a rare accessory phase. It occurs associated with beryl, danburite, apatite, spodumene, zircon, fluorite, feldspar and quartz. It was first described by mineralogist and geographer W. C. Brøgger in 1890.
