Historical information. The Standard SS service dagger was introduced in1933. It was authorized to eb worn by all ranks. The design followed the same pattern as the SA dagger, This was based on the Holbein design dating back to a 16th Century swiss dagger. The SS dagger comprised a black ebony wood grip. and a dark blue, almost black sheath. The national eagle and SS Sigrunnen adorned the grip.
