This proto print used three colours. By late 1941 it became its own print was was produced in five colours. It was issued for widespread use as smocks, winter parkas, zeltbahns, and helmet covers. It was made from strong cotton duck fabric and in some cases herringbone twill. It was fully reversible from Spring to autumn. This firs issue has become know as oakleaf A becasue a latter variation was created in 1943 know as Oakleaf B. The designs are very similar with the B pattern have dark edging round the dots.
